As Senior High Schools prepare to reopen and receive fresh students this week, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it will release this year’s placement of schools by middle of the week.

This move will enable prospective senior high students to know which schools they’ve been posted to. It will also ensure a takeoff of the double track system.

“Latest by Wednesday we would announce release of placements into senior high schools. Second and third year students are resuming on Saturday 8th September, so we were hoping that if not for anything the first track will move with the second and third years on the 8th but because of the timeline we can’t also give the parents that very short notice” The Public Relations Officer of GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo told Joy News.

Government has announced that it is set to roll out its double Tracking System which will be similar to the semester mode of learning applicable in the universities at the SHS level.

The objectives of the Double-track School Calendar are to create room to accommodate increase in enrollment, reduce class sizes, increase contact hours and to increase the number of holidays.
