National Communications of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Solomon Nkansah says he bears no grudge with anyone who blames the party’s communication for its abysmal performance at the 2016 polls.
The NDC lost by close to one million votes and a little over 40 parliamentary seats to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) being the first time in the fourth republican constitution for a sitting President to lose seeking reelection in a first round.
Mr Nkansah on Adom Fm, said dual communication teams of the party is partly to blame for its electoral woes describing the defeat as shocking and fatal.
“When we were in power we had dual communication teams comprising of members within the party and government communications. In every governance performance is part of communication but if you perform and you do not have good messengers to sell your message you will not make any impact”, he disclosed on Adom Fm.
He disclosed that suspicious characters found their way into the party under various shades claiming they were fronting the interest of the party when in actual sense they were not citing pro-Mahama groups as an example.
“I cannot challenge the fact my administration as Communications Officer was a disaster but the various groups with members who were not even members of the party in the pursuit of parochial interests are also part of the problem. We had Mahama for this Mahama for that and the rest. Their members were just conmen, whiners and diners who were following their own interest”, he revealed.
