Four private Ghanaians: c, have petitioned Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu to investigate former President John Dramani Mahama for allegedly diverting $13 million meant for the development of the Western Region from the E.O. Group.
The petition, dated 18 June 2018, said: “We submit before your office, this petition to invoke section 3(1)(b) of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act,2017(Act 959) to have former President John Dramani investigated for alleged diversion of $13m meant for the development of Western Region from the E.O. group of company as part of their corporate social responsibilities.
“The petitioners are citizens of the Republic of Ghana with the constitutional right to expose and combat crime in the interest of the good people of Ghana. The basis upon which this petition is brought to your office is as a result of an article published on Ghanaweb.com on the 2nd December 2016 by the longest-serving Deputy Attorney General of the Republic of Ghana in the person of Hon. Martin Alamisi Amidu.
“The said article alleged that former President John Dramani diverted $13m to private pockets when he served as Vice-President.”
It added: “We do consider the allegation against him as criminal and for that matter, we humbly beseech your office to have this matter investigated to get those monies retrieved back to the public purse. It is our conviction that, the issue be considered in the interest of the Republic of Ghana.”

FIFA’s new director of development for Africa and the Caribbean, Veron Mosengo-Omba, has been appointed by the world governing to oversee the crisis that has afflicted the governance of the game in Ghana, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Mosengo-Omba, a highly experienced operator of the African terrain, has been chosen by General Secretary Fatma Samoura to mediate in the matters in which the Ghana government is seen to have interfered in the sport.
The DR Congo national will meet Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah in Zurich on Tuesday alongside the General Secretary of the Ghana FA over the formation of a five-man committee to run the game in the country.
The Sports Minister requested a meeting with FIFA last week, seeking a meeting and an approval over the government’s decision to set up its own committee to run football in Ghana.
But FIFA responded by saying the Ghana FA cannot be excluded from the meeting insisting the General Secretary of a representative of the federation must be available for a meeting with the minister in Zurich.
FIFA is already unhappy over government’s decision to dissolve the Ghana Football Association which the world governing body expects must be free from governmental control.
The decision to appoint a five-man committee has also widened the rift with FIFA insisting that elected football officials must be made to run the game and not people appointed by government.

General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Isaac Addo and Protocol Officer, Mr Alex Asante will join Sports Minister, Isaac Kwame Asiamah to meet FIFA to dialogue on issues with regards to Ghana football.
The 5 member committee appointed by the government last week were set to meet the world football governing body but FIFA insisted the government must include officials of the Ghana Football Association.
The government of Ghana have placed a ten-day injunction on the Ghana Football Association after the airing of the “Number 12” documentary which captured several of the country’s football governing body were captured on tape accepting bribe to influence player selection.
Over 80 matches officials were also filmed taking bribe to change the outcome of the game.
Kudjoe Fianoo who is part of the five interim management committee appointed by the government has rejected his offer after the Sports Minister threw out their proposal last week in a meeting.
The officials will leave the shores of the country to meet the officials of FIFA in Zurich.

American Rapper, Jahseh Onfroy popularly known as XXXTentacion was shot and killed during an apparent robbery Monday in Broward County, Florida, police said.
The 20-year-old rapper, was leaving a motorsports store shortly before 4 p.m. when two men in a dark colored SUV shot and killed him in an apparent robbery, said Keyla Concepción, Broward County sheriff department public information officer.
Broward County deputies are actively looking for the two men and asking anyone who witnessed the shooting to come forward, Concepción said.
His latest album “?” premiered at No. 1 when it was released in March, according to Billboard’s website. The album’s single “Sad!” peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 15 weeks on the charts, according to Billboard.
XXXTentacion also stirred controversy. His September 2017 music video for the viral hit “Look at Me” sparked backlash for staging a scene depicting XXXTentacion lynching a young white boy.
The video also referenced flashpoints in the national debate on race such as the 1991 Rodney King beating, the lynching in Mississippi of 14-year-old Emmett Till in 1955, the 2014 Ferguson, Missouri riots, the police shooting of Philando Castile in Minnesota in 2016 and the 2017 Charlottesville, Virginia, violence.
At the end of the video, XXXTentacion spoke about violence and American youth.

A former Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, has said when given the nod to be the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 election, he will use his marketing and communications skills to garner more support and win the election for the party.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic in Accra, Dr Spio-Garbrah said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) employed similar marketing antics in the 2016 election to sell its ‘judicious’ policies and market its then Presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as incorruptible.
He said he would use his rich experience in marketing and communications, spanning from decades of working in financial, government and international institutions, to come up with good and attractive policies for the NDC.
Dr Spio-Garbrah recalled that when Ghanaians opposed the introduction of the Value Added Tax (VAT), which led to the ‘Kumi preko’ and other demonstrations in the 1990s, the introduction had to be suspended.
He said former President Jerry John Rawlings then tasked him as a Minister of Communications to lead a Public Education Committee to sell the idea of VAT to Ghanaians, which he did successfully, leading to the reintroduction of VAT.
He said it was the same skills he would employ to create a good image for the NDC and guarantee a victory for the party in the next election.
Strong support base
Dr Spio-Garbrah also served in different portfolios in the Rawlings and Mills administrations. He is a former Minister of Communications and Minister of Education. He also previously served as Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America (USA) and Mexico. He is a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) based in London.
In 2006, Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah lost the NDC contest to the then Professor John Evans Atta Mills.
Other aspirants for the NDC flag-bearer contest for the 2020 election are former President John Dramani Mahama, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Bagbin, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Professor Joshua Alabi, and the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Mr Sylvester Mensah.
Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah denied the suggestion that he did not even have a strong constituency or support base within and outside the NDC to make a mark in the flag-bearer race or the national election.
He said his support base cut across the youth, professional bodies, as well national and international bodies.
The experienced politician and former diplomat recalled that the suggestion was that then candidate Professor John Evans Atta Mills did not have a strong constituency but he went on to win the 2008 election.
Corruption tag
Dr Spio-Garbrah noted that the corruption tag against the NDC contributed to the loss of the party in the 2016 election.
He said his personal image as a politician without a record of corruption would endear him and the NDC to many Ghanaians to give the party another shot at power.
Dr Spio-Garbrah said should he win the flag-bearer contest and get the mandate of Ghanaians to be President, his government would not shield any corrupt government official, no matter his relationship with the fellow.
He said the fight against corruption would succeed only when the leader himself disciplined himself against corruption and deal with the corrupt individuals around him.
Policies and programmes
Dr Spio-Garbrah said his government would focus on growing the economy, increasing agricultural production, job creation and promotion of health and education.
He said industries would be supported to expand and add value to the country’s resources to serve the country and export the surplus for foreign exchange.
He stressed the need for the country to begin to produce the basic things needed in the country instead of depending on the outside world for everything.
One-term presidency
Dr Spio-Garbrah said he supported the suggestion that former President John Dramani Mahama should not be given the chance to lead the party for the 2020 election given the fact that he had only one term to serve as President

Rison, a Ghanaian-Nigerian musician, is receiving condemnation over cover photos for his new single titled ‘Feeling’.
The single was released together with a video on Monday on various online platforms, including YouTube.
But its cover photos were released earlier over the weekend on some social media platforms. It had Rison posing with a half-naked lady in bikini. The lady didn’t show her face rather her buttocks to the camera.
Many people have condemned the photos’ artistic expression, saying it wasn’t necessary. Also, others said Rison took inspiration from fellow musician, Lord Paper, who has become known for using obscene images to promote his music.

She also won the third award that same year but it’s skipped as at the time of publication. Earlier this year in May, Fella Makafui was honored by law students union of the Kings University College at their awards and dinner night for being a great actress and a philanthropist.
Fella Makafui has three endorsement deals. She was signed first by a Sanitary pad company called airee pads in February as their brand ambassador.
Then in May 2018, she won another endorsement deal with Davies Palace and Spa. Then in June, Fella Makafui was signed by Kasapreko to be the brand ambassador for their Carnival Strawberry drink under the Kasapreko brand. It was reported that she got some Ghc100,000 plus from this deal.
It’s no doubt that Fella Makafui is a generous person. She loves to give back to society, and that’s one of the many reasons why we love her. She has a foundation and her foundation donated several items ranging from food to toiletries to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital
Fella Makafui also donated bags of cement to her hometown for the renovation of a community center there. She also made some donations to the widows there and spent quality time with them.
When Ghone TV was looking for people to help buy school desks for pupils of Yikurugu School, who had to lie on the floor to write, Fella Makafui was there for the kids. She donated 20 desks and 400 exercise books, and other stationery to the school as she was touched by the plight of the pupils.

The Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) has expressed shock the decision by Minority Members of Parliament to boycott the use of only passport and birth certificate as the document for registration of the Ghana Card.
According to the Policy Advisor of the PPP, Kofi Asamoah Siaw, the Minority at the Committee level in Parliament agreed to the exclusion of the voters ID card and driver’s license as the list the list of documents for the registration.
The Minority has distanced itself from the exercise until voter’s ID cards are accepted as one of the requirements for the national card.
Speaking at a Press conference, Kofi Asamoah Siaw in Accra Tuesday stated that the National Identification Authority (NIA) has done nothing wrong by insisting that only passport and birth certificate should be the document for registration of the Ghana Card.
He noted that NIA which is a creature of statute is only acting on the directives from Parliament with regards to the registration exercise, wondering why MPs who gave the NIA a clean bill of health will turn around and want to scuttle their efforts.
“We become more suspicious especially when in the past the NDC lost 8 years opportunity to fix this problem. We would have been happy to clap for them and if you go back to history we were always on the neck of late President Prof. Mills, and then subsequently President Mahama to issue the card. Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament say they are heading to the Supreme Court over the National Identification Authority’s exclusion of the Voter ID card as a requirement for registration for the Ghana Card insisting that it will leave many Ghanaians without the cards.
Communication director of the NIA Francis Palmdeti says the Authority is working within its mandate hence cannot be faulted.
“Majority of Ghanaians have the voter ID card and Article 42 clearly states it is only people who are Ghanaians that can vote. In other words anyone who has a voter ID card is a Ghanaian so why is NPP insisting on outlawing many Ghanaians on this. So we are saying that until a proper interpretation of Article 42 and sections of the L(I),the minority will not be part of the process and we are heading to the court. Our lawyers are working on it and you will hear from them soon”.

Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale says he is no friends with Ghanaian journalists because they keep poking their nose into matters that have no correlation with them.
A livid musician disclosed that a leaked video of him receiving a BJ was an entirely personal matter that was mistakenly loaded on his snap chat status but before he could make amends, bloggers had started making mincemeat out of it.
According to him, it is one of the reasons he is richer than most Ghanaian bloggers, and therefore, warned that very soon there will be a showdown between him and the bloggers because they have appeared not to like him.
“Who told you to go to my snap chat status”, he asked wondering if those who are busily circulating the leaked tape have not had s*x before or why the fuss.

After flirting with other ladies on mother’s day to spite Mitchy, the Dancehall artiste has taken it a notch higher as he just posted a video of himself and a friend being given a BJ by a lady.
In the thirty-four seconds video, the dancehall artiste although not seen is heard shouting the name of Jesus and telling the lady ‘blowing’ him that he loves the art.
